What is Clinical Pilates?

Clinical pilates is a series of exercises focussing on coordination and movement. It is a great way of improving core stability and strength, building muscle strength and addressing muscular imbalances. You can also benefit from improvements in posture, balance, flexibility and mobility. Research has shown pilates to be an effective method of managing chronic lower back pain but it is also used across a wide range of client groups including elite and recreational athletes. This low impact form of exercise can be used to aid recovery from various injuries, especially low back pain. It can also be used as part of a fitness programme for athletes and dancers or can be used as a way of maintaining a healthy, functioning body. If you’re injured and currently doing rehabilitation or looking to maintain or improve general fitness levels we can tailor a program to suit you.

The Prime Practice can offer a comprehensive pitch side first aid service to schools and clubs.

What to expect:

Our pilates program aims to deliver expert advice and instruction by a fully qualified chartered physiotherapist. This enables your instructor to specifically tailor exercise and routines to work on your areas of weakness and is a great way for people to improve their health and activity levels. An individual, one hour session with your instructor is required prior to attending any of our Pilates sessions. This will enable you to receive a full assessment and to learn the basics of The Pilates technique. Following your assessment you will be advised as to which class level or format (group or 1:1) will provide you with the most benefit.
